John Isaac Chandler

La Grande

John Issac Chandler, 95, of La Grande, died Monday at a local care facility. 

Graveside services will be at the Island City Cemetery at 1 p.m. Friday. The family requests casual dress. 

A full obituary will be published later. Loveland Funeral Chapel & Crematory will be handling the arrangements.



Dr. Eugene Palmer

La Grande

Dr. Eugene Palmer’s Service will be held at the Presbyterian Friendship Center at 1 p.m. Oct. 12. A luncheon will be served afterward. Loveland Funeral Chapel is in charge of the arrangements.



Michael W. ‘Mike’ Tauvell

La Grande

Michael W. “Mike” Tauvell, 59 of La Grande, died Sept. 22, 2013, from the effects of dementia. Family and friends are invited to a memorial for Mike at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses, 1511 26th St., La Grande at 4 p.m. Sunday. Loveland Funeral Chapel is handling the

James A. Sand



James A. Sand, 71, of Wallowa died Sept. 21 after a long battle with cancer.

Jim was born March 7, 1942, in French Camp, Calif., and grew up in Ripon, Calif. He loved fishing and hunting.

Survivors include his daughters, Lisa (Dennis) Loftin of Denair, Calif., and Jacqueline of Seattle; two stepsons, Michael (Brenda) Womack and Toby Womack of Medford; a sister, Gail (Bob) Fontana of Ceres, Calif.; 10 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

Jim was preceded in death by his wives, Linda and Pam, and a brother, Ralph. 

At Jim’s request, there will be no service. Memorials may be given to the charity of choice.

Bollman Funeral Home is handling the arrangements.



Joseph Sweet


Joseph Sweet, 75, of Wallowa, died at his residence Monday. A full obituary will be available at a later date. Loveland Funeral Chapel is in charge of the arrangements.
