Leon Corwin Doyle, 58, of La Grande, died April 13 at St. Alphonsus Hospital in Boise. A complete obituary will be available later. Loveland Funeral Chapel & Crematory is in charge of arrangements.
Eddie Darrel Garoutte, 78, formerly of La Grande, died peacefully April 11 at Marquis Nursing Home in Boise. A celebration of life will begin at 2 p.m. Saturday at Daniels-Knopp Funeral, Cremation & Life Celebration Center. Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association. Peggy Nolan, 84, of La Grande, died April 11 at Evergreen Health & Rehabilitation Center in La Grande. Gray’s West and Co. Pioneer Chapel is in charge of arrangements. Raymond Leland Fenn, 83, of La Grande, died April 12 at a Boise hospital. A celebration of life will begin at 1 p.m. Friday at Daniels-Knopp Funeral, Cremation & Life Celebration Center. Raymond was born Nov. 23, 1925, to Leland Thomas and Mary (Harris) Fenn in Huntington. He attended schools in Huntington and college in La Grande for a time before enlisting in the U.S. Navy. He served during World War II in the South Pacific. On April 24, 1947, he married Virginia White in Weiser, Idaho. He worked as a chemist for the cement plants in Lime and Baker City. In 1957 the Fenns moved to La Grande and he worked for Borden Chemical until his retirement in December 1990. The Fenns were active members of the Star Promenaders Square Dance Club. He was a member of the VFW and Fort Union Grange. He enjoyed woodworking. People said he made incredibly beautiful furniture. In his younger years he enjoyed hunting, fishing, huckleberry picking and wood cutting. He loved to work in his garden and enjoyed his many flowers. He was a loving and caring husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. Survivors include his wife, Virginia Fenn of La Grande; children and their spouses, Steven and Teresa Fenn of Pendleton, Dennis and Karen Fenn of La Grande and Sonja Fenn of East Wenatchee, Wash.; 10 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren with one more on the way; and other relatives. He was preceded in death by his parents; three sisters; and a great-granddaughter, Emma Rae Myers. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association or the local food bank.
