Craig was born June 16, 1923, to Melba and Vernon Kreutz in White Salmon, Wash. His family moved to Oregon four months later. Craig considered himself a lifelong Oregonian. He was a World War II veteran, serving in the 6th Army Division in the Philippines and New Guinea. He married his childhood sweetheart, Pauline Weitzel, at age 19 and they had three children. After Pauline died in 1981, he found companionship and love with a long-time friend, Alice Martin. He lived in Portland until earlier this year, when he moved to La Grande to be with family. Craig owned and operated Craig’s Manufacturing Co. from 1955 to 1980. After his retirement he spent many happy times in Baja, Mexico, and on the Oregon and Washington coasts with family and friends. Survivors include his children, C.B. of La Grande, Rod of Libby, Mont., and Barbara of Reno NV; six grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. His brothers, Wayne and Vern preceded him in death.
