Belva was 65 and lived in Lower Perry.
Cove 1938-2011
Patsy was born Aug. 4, 1938, in Metaline Falls, Wash., to Leland West and Stella McManamon West. She lived in Rockford, Spokane, Endicott and Johnson, Wash., before moving to Cove. She attended Marycliff Academy and Whitworth College. Patsy was married to Raymond George Burgett for 39 1/2 years. In addition to her occupation of wife and mother, she was a rural mail carrier. Patsy was an artist. She enjoyed oil painting, gardening, horses, dogs, reading and music. She loved to attend dog shows and watch the Seattle Mariners. Patsy was a member of the Bernese Mountain Dog Club of America, Inland Northwest Bernese Mountain Dog Club and Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation. She was a lifetime member of the La Grande Mavericks Riding Club and the American Paint Horse Association. Surviving Patsy is her spouse, Raymond; children and their spouses, Constance Anne and Kevin Scott Harvey of Dufur and Karen Elizabeth Burgett and Dan Isley of Portland; siblings and their spouses, Josie and Bob Jennings of Elk, Wash., Patrick and Evelyn West of Rockford, Leslie Arneson of Rockford and Della Clemens of Spokane; 11 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and 13 nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Leland and Estella; son, Thomas Lee Morrison; brother-in-law, Robert Arneson; and her nephew, Larry Arneson. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society in care of Loveland Funeral Chapel.
Wallowa County 1918-2011
She was born March 5, 1918, to Harlan and Esther Trueblood Koger on the family homestead at lower Cove. There she grew up with her older brother, Lavon, and younger sister, Betty. She attended school in Cove, graduating in the Class of 1936. On July 19 of the same year, she married her high school sweetheart, Eldred Hallmark. He preceded her in death on Jan. 15, 1973. Jean centered her life around her home and her family. She enjoyed being a homemaker, gardener and mother to her two children, Elton and Lois. Later in life she married Everett Russell on Aug. 29, 1980. They enjoyed fishing, camping and traveling. He preceded her in death on March 3, 1995. One of her most memorable trips was an Alaskan cruise that she went on with her son, Elton. She had five grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren she loved to spend time with. She surrounded herself with their pictures and treasured their phone calls and gifts. Jean spent her last years at Wallowa Valley Care Center where she made many friends and was cared for by the staff. She is survived by her son, Elton Hallmark and his wife, Joanne, of Eugene; daughter, Lois Huntington and her husband, Ken, of Enterprise; five grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents and siblings.
