Perry 1946-2011
A gathering will follow at Belva and Johnny’s home in Perry. She was born Feb. 2, 1946, to Eddie and Berdean Fincher in Payette, Idaho. She married Keith Jenkins on Nov. 9, 1963. They later divorced but remained friends for their children. Belva and her mom owned and operated Twin Firs Retirement Center for 35 years. Belva was a drill team leader of the team known as Rim-Rock Riders from the Royal Riders 4-H club. She loved her garden and canning fruits and vegetables and making freezer jam for her children and husband. Belva enjoyed and owned animals her entire life and raised miniature horses on her farm, Windy Valley Miniatures, until 1994. She also raised fainting goats and long haired Chihuahuas. She especially loved horses and had horses her whole life. She married her long-time companion Johnny Gunnels March 10, 2002, and in October of 2002, she had a double lung transplant. She worked at Red Cross Drug from 2003 until the fall of 2010. She had said she loved her job and the people she worked with — they became her second family. Belva and John started Johnny’s Bait in September 2005 and she was known as the Worm Lady by many. Belva is survived by her husband, Johnny of Perry; daughters and their spouses, Rhonda and Dave Nugent of Weaverville, Calif., and Shari and Curtis Cox of Imbler; son, Robert Jenkins of Umatilla and Randy and his wife, Wendy Jenkins, of Weaverville, Calif.; stepson, Johnny and his wife, Malinda Gunnels, of Redmond; stepdaughter, Crystal and her husband, Shawn Webb, of Redmond; 14 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, Eddie and Berdean Fincher.
