James ‘Jimmy’ Brown

La Grande

James Bryan “Jimmy” Brown, 49, of La Grande, died July 17 in a motorcycle accident. A celebration of life will begin at 10 a.m. Thursday, July 30, at Loveland Funeral Chapel, 1508 Fourth St., La Grande.


Delmar ‘D.V.’ Baker

Formerly of La Grande

1921-2009

Delmar “D.V.” Baker, 88, of Casa Grande, Ariz., and formerly of La Grande, died July 18. A memorial service will begin at 11 a.m. Saturday at Trinity Southern Baptist Church in Casa Grande. J. Warren Funeral Services Valley Chapel is in charge of arrangements.

Delmar was born April 5, 1921, in Carroll, Neb. He served in the Navy in WWII. He was married to Mary Ann Baker for 34 years.

Delmar was a member of Masonic Lodge No. 41 in Oregon. He received his 32nd Degree Mason in Phoenix, Ariz. He was a member of the Scottish Rite in Tucson, Ariz. He was a Real Estate broker and owned D.V. Baker Real Estate. He was an avid hunter and a proud veteran.

Delmar lived in La Grande for several years where he owned Baker Realty.

Survivors include his wife, Mary Ann Baker of Casa Grande; sons, Gary Baker and Roger Alexander, both of Oregon; daughters, Sheree Rabourne of Oregon and Lori Tippett of Arizona; sister, Della Mae Taylor; seven grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his brother, Eldon Baker; sister, Viola Ballantyne; and parents, Othal Sherman Baker and Della Purus Baker.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to any cancer charity or Hospice Compassus Facility (www.hospicecompassus.com).
