Norma L. Dewey
Formerly of La Grande Norma Leonard Dewey, 84, of Homedale, Idaho, and formerly of La Grande, died July 23. A service is planned for Monday in Homedale. Flahiff Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
La Grande Herbert O. Imel, 80, of La Grande, died July 23 at his home. A celebration of life will begin at 2 p.m. Friday, July 31, at Loveland Funeral Chapel, 1508 Fourth St., La Grande.
Union Ervin Ezra Reed, 77, of Union, died July 23 at his home. Gray’s West & Co. Pioneer Chapel in Baker City is in charge of arrangements.
La Grande 1956-2009 Cynthia Gerda Brownton Schultz, 53, of La Grande, died July 17 at her home in La Grande. A memorial service will begin at 11 a.m. Monday at Daniels-Knopp Funeral, Cremation & Life Celebration Center, 1502 Seventh St. in La Grande. Her sister, Sally Wiens will officiate. Cynthia was born June 23, 1956, to Wesley Frederick and E. Gerda (Cornell) Brownton in La Grande. She graduated from La Grande High School with the Class of 1974. She graduated from the Wyoming School of Veterinary Technicians in Thermapolis, Wyo., and worked for several veterinary clinics before moving back to La Grande where she worked for Dr. Crabtree as a veterinary technician at La Grande Small Animal Clinic until illness forced her to retire. She was a member of Chapter CO, P.E.O. Sisterhood. She was a cowboy at heart and loved horses. Even with all of her physical ailments, she had a huge heart and a great amount of courage. Survivors include her mother, Gerda Brownton of La Grande; son, Chad W. Schultz of Boise; daughter and son-in-law, Chelsea Jean and Roy Arroyo of Veneta; one grandson; sisters, Carol Lindsay of Klickitat, Wash., and Sally and her husband, Mike Wiens, of La Grande; brother and sister-in-law, Mark and Laura Lee Brownton of Devore, Calif.; a nephew and a niece; and other relatives. She was preceded in death by her father, Wesley Brownton Jan. 10, 2001. Memorial contributions may be made to a scholarship fund set up for her only grandchild, Rodolfo “Roy” Arroyo in care of Daniels-Knopp or the La Grande Branch of US Bank.
