Weaver, Yates, Lay

Aug. 1 — Cecile Lay, service, 2 p.m., Joseph Cemetery

Aug. 13 — Theodore Hooey, celebration of life, 3 p.m., American Legion Post 43, La Grande

Aug. 13 — John J. Gregory, graveside, time not available, Wallowa Cemetery.

Helen W. Weaver


Helen W. Weaver, 88, of Enterprise, died July 8. A service will begin at 10 a.m. Monday at Enterprise Cemetery. Bollman Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Margaret Yates


Margaret Yates, age unavailable, of Summerville, died July 28 at a local care center. Daniels-Knopp Funeral Cremation & Life Celebration Center is in charge of arrangements.

Cecile A. Lay



Cecile Alice Lay, 87, of Enterprise, died July 25. A service will begin at 2 p.m. Monday at Joseph Cemetery. Bollman Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Cecile was born Sept. 8, 1923, to Ernest and Lillian (Simmons) Quinn in Enterprise. She grew up in Enterprise and graduated from Enterprise High School in 1941.

She married Harold Lay in May of 1946. They were married for 65 years.

She worked for 34 years at the Wallowa County Assessors Office.

She was a past president of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary, past president of the Ladies Lions and a sorority member.

She enjoyed playing bridge, traveling and spending time with her family and spoiling her grandchildren. She enjoyed Friday afternoon lunches with friends.

Cecile spent the last 32 winters in Yuma, Ariz.

Survivors include her husband, Harold Lay of Enterprise; daughter, Sharm Daggett and her husband, Lee, of Enterprise; and two grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Ernest and Lillian Quinn; and sisters, Lois Delaney and Margaret Star.
