Obituaries for the day of June 16, 2009 Naedean Barnes Elgin A memorial celebration for Naedean Barnes of Elgin, who died Oct. 27, 2008, will run from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, 50 S. 20th Ave., in Elgin. Those who knew Naedean are invited to bring their memories and fond thoughts of her. Photos and stories to share will be available along with a light buffet. Kevin A. Osterloh La Grande Kevin Andrew Osterloh, 21, died June 12 in La Grande. A celebration of life will begin at 2 p.m. July 10 at La Grande High School. A full obituary will be available later. Loveland Funeral Chapel and Crematory is in charge of arrangements. Virginia M. Riomondo La Grande 1920-2009 Virginia Marie Riomondo, 88, of La Grande, died June 12 in La Grande. A memorial to celebrate Virginia’s life will begin at 10 a.m. Wednesday at New Song Community Church. Loveland Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements. Pastor Mitch Coston will officiate. Virginia was born Dec. 9, 1920, to Charles Ray and Vivian Ruth (Mayfield) Wright in Union. She grew up on the Wright Family ranch in High Valley with five siblings. Virginia attended school in Union and graduated from Union High School in 1940. After graduating she started working on a farm in Summerville where she met Lindsey Park McDaniel and married him June 1, 1942. To this union, she had two sons, Lindsey Ray and Thompson Eric. Lindsey died in 1948. After he died, she moved to Walla Walla to attend Cosmetology College. There she met and married Anthony (Tony) M. Riomondo Aug. 16, 1951. To this union she was blessed with three more children, Lynne Marie, Toni Ruth and Ralph Allen. She lived in Walla Walla until his death in 1965. Virginia moved her children back to Union to be closer to her family. Virginia was a dedicated 4-H and Girl Scout leader and was honored by the Union FFA Chapter for her years of support. Virginia worked at Grande Ronde Hospital for several years as a dietician helper, where people enjoyed her bright smile and quick wit until her retirement. She loved cooking, sewing, gardening, camping and going hunting every fall with family in the annual hunting party. She enjoyed playing cards and especially pinochle with anyone who would play with her. She loved vacationing, especially to the Oregon Coast and Wallowa Lake. She was a long-time member of New Song Community Church where she was known for her loving hugs and warm smile. She was a grandma to all. She is survived by children Ray and his wife, Suzanne, of Union, Lynne Marie of Nampa, Idaho, Toni Ruth of La Grande whom she lived with until her death, Ralph and his wife, Debbie, of Union; seven grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and three siblings, Jerry of La Grande, and Shirley and Pearl of Union; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her two husbands; son, Tom in 1991; parents; sister, Marion at the age of 8; and a brother, Chuck, in 1989. At the request of the family, in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Children’s Ministries of New Song Community Church. Marvel H. Eaves Enterprise 1929-2009 Marvel Hope Eaves, 80, of Enterprise, died June 12 at Oregon Health & Science University Hospital in Portland. A memorial service will begin at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Enterprise. The burial will be at Enterprise Cemetery. Bollman Funeral Home in Enterprise is in charge of arrangements. Marvel was born April 5, 1929, the oldest of three children to Virginia and Lloyd Schaefer in Norfolk, Va. She attended school in Salem, Bremerton, Wash., and Gresham. Marvel was a successful entrepreneur, operating several businesses in her life including an art studio, health food store and the restaurant called Pete’s Pond. She was an accomplished artist, capturing much of Wallowa County’s beautiful scenery in her oil paintings. She was also able to share her skill in her art classes. Marvel also found pleasure in writing — cataloguing her life’s adventures in personal memoirs for friends and family, as well as writing poetry for herself. She enjoyed years of gardening and landscaping in her large gardens around her home. Most importantly, however, throughout her life, Marvel was always driven to help those around her. She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and enjoyed serving in her various callings. She gained lifetime friends in and outside of the church. She was loved and will be greatly missed by her friends and family. Marvel is survived by her sister, Clarann Witty and her husband, Derrell of Enterprise; daughter, Diana Yoshioka and her husband, Vern, of Vancouver, Wash.; son, Gary Connolly and his wife, Connie, of Hillsboro; eight granddaughters; five grandsons; and 16 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her second husband, Ford Peterson; mother, Virginia Nunn; father, Lloyd Schaefer; and brother, Glenn.
