Terrell J. Galloway

Elgin


Terrell Jewel Galloway, 27, of Elgin, died June 18 at his home. A graveside service will begin at 11 a.m. Thursday at the Elgin Cemetery. Viewing will run from 4 to 6 p.m. Wednesday at Daniels-Knopp Funeral, Cremation & Life Celebration Center. A full obituary will be available later.



Jean Kern

Formerly of La Grande


Jean Kern, 83, of Pendleton and formerly of La Grande, died the morning of June 20 at a care center in Pendleton. A graveside service will begin at 2 p.m. Thursday at Hillcrest East Cemetery. A full obituary will be available later. Daniels-Knopp Funeral, Cremation & Life Celebration Center is in charge of arrangements.



Avril Richmond

La Grande


Avril Richmond, 85, of La Grande, died Monday at a local care center. A full obituary will be available later. Loveland Funeral Chapel & Crematory is in charge of the arrangements.



Gary J. Beach

Formerly of Enterprise

1945-2011


Gary Joe Beach, 66, formerly of Enterprise, died June 10 at Valley Vista in Sandpoint, Idaho. A celebration of life will be held later.

Gary was born April 11, 1945, to Joe and Lillian (Snyder) Beach in Enterprise. He attended Paradise Grade School and then Enterprise High School, graduating in 1963. He attended college at the Oregon Institute of Technology with degrees in welding and blue drafting.

Gary married Carol Ann Bauck Sept. 5, 1972, in Asotin. They divorced in 1974. On May 25, 1988, he married Florance Evans in Clarkston. They divorced in 2003.

He served in the U.S. Navy Dec. 9, 1969, to Nov. 20, 1969, during the Vietnam conflict. Gary earned the National Deference Medal, Vietnam Service Medal with three bronze stars, the Vietnam Campaign Medal, Air Medal and three gold stars.

After his time in the service, Gary operated the Texaco gas station on River Street in Enterprise. He moved to Clarkston, Wash., in the 1970s. He worked as a welder for Stieger Grain Elevator for many years.

Gary was a life member of the VFW in Clarkston and the Royal Coachman Car Club in Enterprise. He enjoyed working on vehicles and welding trailers. In 1993, Gary had a brain aneurysm that changed his life forever.

Survivors include two sisters, Sue and her husband, Monte Radford, and Donna Dunning, all of Enterprise; a brother, Thomas and his wife, Laura Beach, of Enterprise; and stepchildren; nieces; and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Ronald Beach; and his grandparents, Dale and Cordelia Beach and Jeff and Ruby Snyder.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Clarkston VFW Post 1443.



Michael R. Shirley

Joseph

1952-2011


Michael Ray Shirley, 59, of Joseph, died June 18 at Wallowa Memorial Hospital after battling esophageal cancer. A celebration of life dinner will run from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at the Shirley residence.

Michael was born May 1, 1952, to Mavor and Geraldine Shirley in Enterprise. He attended elementary and high school in Joseph and college at Blue Mountain Community College and Oregon State University. He earned a degree in construction technology/education. Mike worked as a building contractor in Wallowa County for many years.

On Aug. 26, 1972, he married the love of his life, Rhonda Kiser. One of Mike’s greatest joys was his relationship with his children, Tyson and Tara. Mike was an avid outdoorsman. He loved taking his family and friends hunting and fishing.

Survivors include his wife, Rhonda; son and daughter-in-law, Tyson and Carrie; daughter, Tara; father, Mavor; brothers, Ron, Larry and Russell; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his mother, Geraldine; and niece, Retha.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Wallowa County 4-H and Joseph FFA programs in care of Bollman Funeral Home.
