Kloer, Garvin, Ashton, Moffit, Tally

Velma Jean Kloer

La Grande

Velma Jean Kloer, 78, of La Grande, died at her residence Monday. A dedication of the grave will be held at 1 p.m. Friday at Grandview Cemetery. A complete obituary will be published later. Loveland Funeral Chapel and Crematory is handling arrangements.


George Robert Garvin

North Powder

George Robert Garvin, 58, of North Powder, died at Grande Ronde Hospital Monday. A complete obituary will be published later. Loveland Funeral Chapel and Crematory is handling arrangements.


George Elmer Ashton

Elgin

A potluck service in memory of George Elmer Ashton is planned for 1 p.m. Saturday at the Elgin Community Center.

Mr. Ashton, 77, of Elgin, died April 22 at St. Alphonsus Medical Center in Boise.

Arrangements are with Daniels-Knopp Funeral, Cremation & Life Celebration Center.


Myrtle J. Moffit

Enterprise

1931-2009

Myrtle Joan Hayes Moffit, 78, of Enterprise, died June 12 of natural causes at her home.

A family memorial gathering will be held following cremation. Bollman Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Myrtle was born Feb. 21, 1931, to Hugh and Bessie (Vernon) Hayes at the family home on Bear Creek, near Wallowa. She attended Wallowa Grade School and graduated from Wallowa High School in 1951. She married Bryce D. Moffit Feb. 13, 1954, in Salem.

After her husband’s graduation from the University of Oregon’s dental school in Portland, the couple spent two years in Anchorage, Alaska, where Bryce served in the U.S. Army and where their son was born. They moved to Enterprise in 1958, where Dr. Moffit practiced dentistry for 43 years and Myrtle was a stay-at-home mother.

Myrtle was a member of the Elks and volunteered with Meals on Wheels. She enjoyed birdwatching, flower gardening, fishing and touring the country in search of wildflowers, mushrooms and huckleberries.

Survivors include her son, Charles Moffit of Enterprise; brothers, Hugh Hayes of Salem, Eugene Hayes of Wallowa, Thomas Hayes of Wallowa and Patrick Hayes of Milwaukie;

sister, Betty Rysdam of Elgin; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Dr. Bryce Moffit; parents, Hugh and Bessie Hayes; and brothers, Vernon Hayes, Bud Hayes and Jerry Hayes.


Trevor Tally

La Grande

1987-2009

Trevor Jordan Tally, 21, of La Grande, died June 18 in a drowning accident at Oxbow Reservoir while he was assisting in saving a child and his grandmother. A memorial service will be held at 4 p.m. Wednesday in Kimsey Commons at the Cove Ascension School, 1006 Church St. in Cove.

Known as T.J., he was born Sept. 17, 1987, to Dennis Tally and Randi Hill. He was born and raised in the Grande Ronde Valley, although he graduated from Thurston High School in Springfield.

He loved music, sports, hunting and fishing.

Survivors include his parents, Dennis Tally of Roseburg and Randi DeMeerleer of Cove; fiancée, Judy Cline of La Grande; son, Carson of La Grande; siblings, McKenzie Tally and Colton DeMeerleer, both of Cove; grandparents, Bob and Jolita Hill of Cove and Beulah Tally of Lostine.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Carson Tally Fund in care of Loveland Funeral Chapel, 1508 Fourth St., La Grande 97850.
