Sally Ann Crawford, 64, of Puyallup, Wash., and formerly of La Grande and Wallowa County, died June 20 at her home after a long battle against cancer. Graveside services will begin at 1 p.m. Saturday at the Wallowa Cemetery. Her nephew, Rob Crawford, will be officiating. A celebration of life will be held at a later date in Puyallup. Curnow Funeral Home in Puyallup is in charge of arrangements.

Sally was born Feb. 22, 1944, to Noel and Pat (Maxwell) Klitz in La Grande. She was educated there, and graduated from La Grande High School in 1962. She then completed training at Phagen’s Beauty School in Pendleton and worked in that field for a short time in Enterprise.

Sally met Michael Crawford in Lostine in late July 1965; the attraction was immediate and mutual. They married less than a month later on Aug. 23 in Pendleton. The young couple moved to the Puget Sound region of Washington state and have resided there since.

Sally enjoyed home-making, and was noted for her beautiful garden and her excellent cooking, sewing, crocheting and craftwork. Her peanut brittle was famous among family and friends. She was interested in history and was well-read on the subject. She and Mike were very active for many years in square dancing and also loved skiing. Sally was a devoted dachshund lover and was a collector of all things dachshund.

She had strong Wallowa County ties all her life. Her grandparents, Lena and Jerry Maxwell, were both members of families who were early settlers in the valley, as were her husband’s family.

She is survived by her husband, Mike, of Puyallup; brother, Dale Klitz and his wife, Colleen, of Mountain Home, Idaho; uncle, Kenneth Running of Wallowa; brother-in-law, Bob Crawford and his wife, Shirley, of Enterprise; and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews. Sally was preceded in death by her parents; her uncle, Alton Klitz; and aunts, Enid (Maxwell) Edgmond and Mary Lee (Maxwell) Running, both of Wallowa.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Humane Society or to the American Cancer Society.

Mike McFetridge, 99, of Joseph, died June 6. A celebration of life will begin at 1 p.m. Sunday at the VFW Hall in Enterprise. A potluck dinner will follow. Bollman Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mike was born Nov. 16, 1908, to Millard and Mertie (Kinney) McFetridge at Elk Mountain. He was the third son of a family of four boys and two girls.

He married Joyce Ann Clark Sept. 4, 1930, in Enterprise. They were married for 67 years until she died Dec. 11, 1997.

Mike is survived by his daughter, Jackie (McFetridge) Goodman; son, Gary and his wife, Glenda, of Joseph; six grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; and his youngest sister, Jean Johnson, who lives at the Wallowa Valley Care Center in Enterprise.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to the Enterprise Elks Lodge No. 1829 in care of Bollman Funeral Home.
