Franklyn P. Babb
Franklyn P. Babb, 85, La Grande, died May 16 at his home. A full obituary will be available later. Loveland Funeral Chapel & Crematory is in charge of the arrangements.
Kenneth E. Aldrich
Kenneth E. Aldrich, 80, of Union, died May 6 at the Intermountain Medical Center in Murray, Utah. A memorial service will begin at 2 p.m. May 25 at the Union United Methodist Church. Burial will follow at Union Cemetery.
Kenneth was born Nov. 8, 1931, the son of Everett and Grace (Blize) Aldrich in Haines. He grew up in Union and graduated from Union High School with the Class of 1950.
He served his country with the United States Navy on the USS Essex in Korea for four years. After his honorable discharge, he worked for Boeing as a Heliarc welder. He then returned to Union where he was partners with his brother Frank in the Aldrich Bros Chevron.
He later worked as a bus driver and custodian for the Union School District before becoming an equipment operator for the Oregon State Department of Transportation until his retirement in 1994.
He was married to Urcelle Crossland on June 18, 1955. They lived in Everett, Wash., briefly before moving back to Union where they lived and raised their three children.
They later divorced in 1994. On Aug. 28, 1999, he married Wythel (Delaney) Bronson in Union. Kenneth enjoyed fishing and hunting.
He served on the Union Volunteer Fire Department for 30 years and was a lifetime member of the VFW High Valley Post 4060.
Survivors include his wife, Wythel Aldrich of Union; and her children, Sherril Teeter of Pasco, Wash., and Carole Smith of La Grande; his children, Kristy (Romer) Moore of La Grande, Danny Aldrich of Medford and Duane Aldrich of Banks; siblings, Glen Aldrich of Union, Betty Griffith of Prineville and George Aldrich of Cove; several grandchildren; and numerous great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by brothers, Frank and Elmer Aldrich; his mother, Grace Aldrich; and father, Everett.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the VFW High Valley Post 4060 or the Union Methodist Church in care of Daniels-Knopp Funeral, Cremation & Life Celebration Center.

Anna Stein, 79, longtime Wallowa County resident, died May 13. A funeral service will begin at 11 a.m. Thursday at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 900 E. Greenwood in Enterprise.
She was born Dec. 28, 1932, in Blackfoot, Idaho, the youngest of four children born to Rose and Jim Clough.
Anna moved to Enterprise with her family in 1946.
As a freshman, she met the love of her life, John Stein Jr. They married on June 5, 1950, and had four children.
They lived on their ranch until Anna’s failing health caused them to move into Enterprise.
Anna loved God, her family and life on the ranch, riding horses as much as possible.
As a child, she would ride in among the Blackfeet Indians and on outings with her father.
In later years, she joined the Wranglers and before her health failed, she would ride on the ranch helping sort cattle and do cowboying while John was ranching.
John and Anna were married 61 years, just three weeks short of 62 years. Anna was a member of the Church of Jesus Church of Latter-day Saints. Besides family, her favorite pastime was riding horses.
Anna is survived by her husband, John Stein Jr.; daughters, Sandra Morehead and her husband, Mike, and Susan Norman and her husband, Ray; sons, David and his wife, Nancy Stein, and Chris Stein; sister, Elnada (Mickey) Runey; 11 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by parents, Rose and Jim; and brothers, Allen and Frank Clough.
Phyllis J. Lovell
Phyllis Jean Lovell, 71, of Enterprise, died Nov. 14, 2011, at Providence St. Mary Medical Center in Walla Walla, Wash. A graveside service will begin at 11 a.m. Saturday at Enterprise Cemetery with Jerry Raedeke officiating. Cremation was at Mt. View Cremation in Walla Walla.
She was born April 19, 1940, in Enterprise to Edward and Irene (Warnock) Redman. She lived in Wallowa County her entire life. She lived in Joseph and then moved to Enterprise around 1991. She graduated from Joseph High School.
She married Merlin “Skip” Lovell. They later divorced.
She was employed in the banking industry from 1960 to 1991. She worked at Bank of Wallowa County and retired in 1991. Phyllis loved horses.
Memorial contributions may be made to any fund that benefits cancer or heart disease research.
Juanita Hanson, 83, of Summerville, died May 16 at a care center in Elgin. Daniels-Knopp Funeral Cremation & Life Celebration Center is in charge of the arrangements.
