LOCAL FUNERALS AND VISITATIONS

Nov. 14 — Joseph Teixeira, celebration of life, 4 to 6 p.m., American Legion Post 43, Fir and Jefferson streets

Evaline LaChance, 91, of La Grande, died Oct. 9 in La Grande. Daniels-Knopp Funeral, Cremation & Life Celebration Center is in charge of arrangements.


Michael Puckett, of Cove, 50, died Oct. 11 at Grande Ronde Hospital. Daniels-Knopp Funeral, Cremation & Life Celebration Center is in charge of arrangements.


David Earl “Pops” Harmon, 64, of La Grande, died Oct. 26 at Salem Hospital surrounded by family and friends. A private burial and memorial service will be held at a later date. Crown Memorial Center in Salem is in charge of arrangements.

David was born March 4, 1945, to William Earl and Frances Cecilia (Lee) Harmon in Oakland, Calif. The family moved to Umatilla in 1950 and settled in Hermiston where he was raised, attending public school and graduating from Hermiston High School with the Class of 1963.

David joined the Army in 1963. While serving in the military, he was a staff sergeant and a drill sergeant, which allowed him to travel and live in various places such as Germany, Texas, Alaska and Washington. While in Germany, David and his sons became interested in off-road racing Volkswagens. After being honorably discharged in 1978, David worked for his father for five years at Earl’s Sales and Salvage in Hermiston.

David married Cindy Snider Sept. 18, 1983, in Walla Walla.

In 1984, David changed his career path and went to work for the Umatilla Army Depot, where he worked until his retirement in 1995. David liked to stay busy and decided that complete retirement was not for him and went to work for Wal-Mart, where he made many friends and worked for six years.

He enjoyed fishing, camping, boating, woodworking, racing Volkswagen bugs off-road and spending time with his wife, children, grandchildren, family and friends.

David was preceded in death by his father, William Earl Harmon; and brothers, Michael and Timothy Harmon.

David is survived by his mother, Frances Harmon of Echo; wife, Cindy Harmon of La Grande; sisters, Karen Douglas and her husband of Echo and Donna Sullivan and her husband of Stockton, Calif.; sons, Jason and his wife, Christina Harmon, of

La Grande and Perry Harmon of Olympia, Wash.; daughter, Charity Dickenson of La Grande; five grandchildren; and one great-grandson; and many nieces and nephews.

Robert J. Page, 35, of La Grande, died Nov. 7 at Grande Ronde Hospital. A celebration of life will begin at

4 p.m. Saturday at the Faith Center Church in Island City. Loveland Funeral Chapel and Crematory is in charge of arrangements.

Robert was born March 27, 1974, to Robert B. and Connie J. (Allen) Page in La Grande.

People who knew Robert said he was a loving person and that everybody who knew him loved him. They say he would say “I love you” a lot and meant it.

Those who knew him say he was a good hard worker and had a sense of who he was. They say he changed a lot in good ways and was extremely open-minded. He was known for being funny and had a way of bringing positivity around him. Those who knew Robert say he talked nicely about people and was very forthcoming when dealing with relationships.

Robert loved rock and rap music. He loved his friends and family, and loved sharing memories of fun times. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, shooting and driving in the mountains on trips. He lived in La Grande for most of his life. Robert enjoyed driving fast and was experienced with cars. He greatly enjoyed spending time with his father.

Robert is survived by his father and stepmother, Robert B. and Linda Page of

La Grande; sister, Angie Parsons, of Meacham; and his wife, Jennifer Guiteau Page of Astoria.

 


Katherine Emily (Zollman) Ferguson Wilson, 86, of Eagle Creek and formerly of Wallowa County, died Nov. 7. A celebration of her life will begin at noon Nov. 21 at the Community Presbyterian Church of Sandy at 39290 Scenic St. in Sandy.

Katherine was born Dec. 11, 1922, to Claude and Ethel Zollman in Missouri. She moved with her family to Enterprise and graduated from Joseph High School. She lived on the family farm.

Kay then moved to Portland where she worked in the shipyards during World War II and met and married John Ferguson. They divorced in 1963. Kay was later employed at the U.S. Postal Service where she met and married Kenneth Wilson. They moved to a farm in Eagle Creek and both retired from the Postal Service.

Katherine furthered her interest in art and has left her family and friends numerous paintings. She loved animals and had many pets most of her later years and enjoyed reading novels.

Kay is survived by her husband, Ken; brother, Dwayne D. Zollman of Union; daughter, Linda Kay Howard of Auburn, Wash.; stepson, Eric Wilson of Gresham; five grandsons; and three great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; and 11 of her 12 siblings.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Humane Society of Oregon or Community Presbyterian Church of Sandy.
