LOCAL FUNERALS AND VISITATIONS

Nov. 18 — Inez McCrae, funeral service, 2 p.m., United Methodist Church, Wallowa; burial, Lostine Cemetery

Nov. 19 — Roy Cork, memorial service, 1 p.m., Daniels-Knopp Funeral, Cremation and Life Celebration Center


Carmen Dawson, 78, of Wallowa, died Nov. 11 at her home with her family near.

A funeral service was held Nov. 14 at Bollman Funeral Home. Burial was held at Lostine Cemetery. A full obituary will be available Tuesday.

Memorial contributions may be made to Wallowa County 4-H.


Inez Roberts McCrae, 90, of Wallowa, died Nov. 11. A funeral service will begin at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the United Methodist Church in Wallowa. Burial will be at the Lostine Cemetery. Bollman Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Inez was born July 14, 1918, to Elizabeth Burt and James Roberts at Lincoln, Mont. She was the youngest of five children. After the death of her father, the family moved to Idaho. Inez attended school in Payette, Idaho, and in Portland, and graduated with the Class of 1930 in Wallowa.

After her marriage to Oran R. McCrae, the couple farmed. In 1942, they bought the John Womack Ranch near Wallowa and they lived there until Oran’s death.

She was a member of the Wallowa Methodist Church, serving as a Sunday school teacher, secretary and Ladies Aid president. She was on the election board for many years. Inez acted as room mother for many years while her children were in school. She was a charter member of the Wallowa Grange 603 and served in most of its offices many times.

Survivors include daughters, Phyllis Conner of Wallowa, Cora Lee Howell of Pocatello, Idaho, and Marcel Reavis of Portland; sons, Marian of Elgin and Roland of Pendleton; 18 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; 28 great-great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband in 1992.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Methodist Church or the Wallowa Memorial Hospital.

 


Justin C. Miller, 33, formerly of Imbler and La Grande, died unexpectedly Oct. 28 near Ripton, Vt. According to his wishes, his ashes were scattered by his family in Vermont. Sanderson’s Mortuary in Middlebury, Vt., was in charge of arrangements.

Justin was born Dec. 31, 1974, in La Grande. He attended school in Imbler where he graduated in 1993 as class valedictorian. He was a National Merit Scholar and loved piano and computers.

He graduated from MIT in 1997 with degrees in electrical engineering and computer science. He was part of several start-up computer businesses in the Boston area where he had lived. He loved Vermont and had been living there recently.

Survivors include his parents, Michael and Denice Miller of Imbler; brothers, Timothy of Henderson, Nev., and Patrick and Christopher of Golden, Colo.; grandmother, Doris Miller of Midland; and many aunts, uncles and cousins.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Imbler Education Foundation in care of Imbler High School, P.O. Box 164, Imbler 97841.
