Elgin 1928-2011
Myrna was born June 23, 1928, in Denver to Warren and Pearlie (Morehead) Springer. She was the only daughter of 10 siblings. She came to Eastern Oregon as a child and lived at the Starkey Logging Camp. She graduated from La Grande High School in 1946. She married Raymond Frank Collins Aug. 6, 1946. He preceded her in death on Aug. 23, 1993. Myrna was very active with the Class of 1946, their regular gatherings and reunions. She was a member of the Elgin Service Club for many years. She enjoyed making doll houses, gambling, reading, puzzles and spending time with her family. Survivors include her four daughters and their spouses, Katherine Wahl of Elgin, Colleen Bynum of Denver, Christine Brown of La Grande and Sharon Sharp of Elgin; 13 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. Memorial contributions may be made to the Class of 1946 in care of Daniels-Knopp Funeral, Cremation & Life Celebration Center, 1502 Seventh St., La Grande, OR 97850.
Formerly of La Grande 1949-2011
Linda was born Feb. 12, 1949, in La Grande to Herschel Delbert Malone and Peggy Jean (Gerdes-Yates) Malone. She attended La Grande High School and Willamette Community College. She had said her greatest achievement was graduating from the Institute of Culinary Arts in San Francisco where she was the top of her class. Cooking was Linda’s passion. Her favorite hobbies were cooking, baking and crafting. Linda was employed at the Oregon State Hospital in Salem. She was also chef for Windemere Resorts, Jackson’s Grill and Greystone Restaurant. Linda is survived by her siblings and their spouses, Butch and Cindy Malone of La Grande, Cherie and Bill Beetchenow of Yakima, Mike and Angie Malone of La Grande and Jenny Kilborn of La Grande; two aunts; eight nieces and nephews; as well as three great-nieces and great-nephews. She also has numerous cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents, Herschel and Peggy Jean Malone.
