Obituaries for the day of November 3, 2009 Joseph Wesley Jarvis Formerly of La Grande Joseph Wesley Jarvis, 39, son of Joseph Woodell Jarvis of Cove and the late Carole Joyce (Hedin) Jarvis, died Oct. 29 at his home in Austin, Texas. He formerly lived in La Grande. The cause of death is undetermined. Daniels-Knopp Funeral, Cremation & Life Celebration Center is in charge of arrangements. A complete obituary will be available later. Rodney Syzerson Elgin Rodney Syzerson, 65, of Elgin, died Nov. 2 at Grande Ronde Hospital. A full obituary will be available later. Daniels-Knopp Funeral, Cremation & Life Celebration Center is in charge of arrangements. Gail J. Chaffee Formerly of Union County 1959-2009 Gail Joan Chaffee, 50, of Prineville and formerly of La Grande and Elgin, died Oct. 30. Funeral services will begin at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Prineville Funeral Home. Pastor Del Towell will officiate. A gathering for family and friends will be held after the service at Ochoco Park on the east end at the covered picnic area. Prineville Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Gail was born April 27, 1959, to Derrill Dean and Audrie Lea (Breshears) Chandler in La Grande. She attended and graduated from Elgin High School. She married Rodney Garland Chaffee Nov. 8, 1980, in Elgin. They lived in Union after marriage, and then moved to Northern Idaho, where she worked as a lift operator and supervisor. They then moved to Salt Lake City and then to Prineville in 1996. They were in the process of building a home together in Elgin. Gail was an avid outdoors girl — she enjoyed hunting, fishing and camping with her husband and family. She enjoyed reading, creating crafts, canning and wine tasting. Gail also enjoyed playing Bunco with her friends. Since 2002 she had worked at Prineville Bi-Mart, serving as its area coordinator for sporting goods. Gail is survived by her parents, Derrill and Audrie Chandler of Elgin; husband, Rod Chaffee of Prineville; son, Joshua Alexander of Elgin; and sisters, Deb Dyer of Elgin and Linda Dryden of Boise. |
