Patrick Fitzgerald

La Grande

Patrick Fitzgerald, 90, longtime businessman and founder of Fitzgerald Flowers, died Nov. 4 at a local care center in La Grande.

Daniels-Knopp Funeral, Cremation & Life Celebration Center is in charge of arrangements.

Rodney L. Syverson

Elgin

1944-2009

Rodney Lee Syverson, 65, of Elgin, died Nov. 2 at Grande Ronde Hospital. A memorial service will begin at 2 p.m. Friday at Daniels-Knopp Funeral, Cremation & Life Celebration Center, 1502 Seventh St. in La Grande.

Rodney was born Oct. 27, 1944, to Arnold and Blanche (Bevier) Syverson in Mill City. He was raised in Mill City and graduated from high school there.

On June 15, 1979, he married Phyllis Courtney in Vancouver, Wash. They moved to Eastern Oregon in 1990.

He was a member of the search and rescue team and was an outdoorsman, enjoying hunting, fishing, bike riding, bow hunting and muzzleloading.

Survivors include his wife, Phyllis Syverson of Elgin; children, Elizabeth and Scott Allen of La Grande, Rodney Lee Syverson Jr. and Jason and Jennie Syverson all of Mill City; nine grandchildren; one nephew; one niece; brother, Delmer Syverson of Mill City; sister, Betty Hattendorf of Mill City; and other relatives. He was preceded in death by three siblings.

Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Association or the American Lung Association in care of Daniels-Knopp.
