La Grande 1931-2011
Jim was born Dec. 19, 1931, in Colgate, Okla., to William Marion Rhyne and Flossie E. Ennis Rhyne. He grew up in Oklahoma before his family moved to California. Eventually, he moved to La Grande to be closer to his son, Aaron, and his family. Jim was employed in the construction industry before retirement. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, woodcarving and playing the guitar. He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Surviving are his children and their spouses, Aaron and Susan Rhyne of Union, James Rhyne of Susanville, Calif., John and Cindy Rhyne of Anderson, Calif., Leland and Kathy Rhyne of Roseburg and Terrie and Kurt Petti of Mountain Home, Idaho; four brothers, Truis Rhyne of Sutherlin, Willy Rhyne of Mina, Nev., Mark Rhyne of Colterville, Calif., and Chet Rhyne of Sunland, Calif.; one sister, Ruthie Driggers of Grants Pass; six grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. Jim was preceded in death by his wife, Jode Rhyne; his former wife, Donna Collier; his parents, William and Flossie; and a sister, Margie Goodwin.
Formerly of La Grande 1933-2011
A funeral will begin at 11 a.m. Saturday at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Lincoln City. An open casket viewing will run from 10 to 10:30 prior to the service. A graveside service will begin at 12:30 p.m. Monday at Willamette National Cemetery in Portland. Delores was born Sept. 12, 1933, to Walter John Dicus and Mary Emma (Christiano) Dicus at St. Mary’s Hospital in Walla Walla. She is survived by her husband, Harold; sister, Mary Ann (Dicus) Bird; and six sons and four daughters-in-law, Danny and Le Ann (Walker), Leigh and Lisa (Knight), Gary, Scott, Dana and Sherri (Coles) and Walter and Nancy (Brown). She is also survived by 14 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren and twin nephews. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to any foundation connected to Alzheimer’s, Lupus or Sjorgren’s Syndrome.
