Arden M. Slusher

La Grande

Arden M. Slusher, 74, of La Grande, died Oct. 25 at a local care center. A full obituary will be available later. Loveland Funeral Chapel and Crematory is in charge of the arrangements.

John W. Ridder

Cove

1935-2011

John William Ridder, 76, of Cove, died Oct. 16 in Heerenveen, Netherlands, while visiting his brother. His memorial service will begin at 10:30 a.m. Nov. 2 at the First Presbyterian Church in La Grande. Loveland Funeral Chapel is in charge of the arrangements.

John was born July 31, 1935, in Malang, Indonesia. He was the son of Pieter Ridder and Ann Koning Ridder. John has lived in many places throughout the world, including Indonesia, Holland, California and Oregon. In 1957, he married Jennie Wassenaar.

John was employed with the Southern California Edison Co. for 35 years. He enjoyed sailing, traveling in an RV and camping. He was an active member of the Walla Walla Yacht Club.

Surviving are his wife, Jennie; his two sons and their spouses, Peter and Kim Ridder of La Grande and George and Tammy Ridder of Barstow, Calif.; his brother and spouse, Piet and Renata Ridder of Heerenveen; four grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

John was preceded in death by his parents, Piet and Ann.
