La Grande
William ‘Bill’ Bonner Union 1955-2011
William “Bill” Osborn Bonner was born July 28, 1955, in Bakersfield, Calif., to David and Essie (Adamson) Bonner. Bill was raised in Bakersfield and went to high school there until the death of his father. At that time, he had a choice to live with relatives or join the Navy. At 16 1/2, his uncle took him to the recruiters and he enlisted in the Navy. Bill was proud to serve his country for four years. When he was honorably discharged, Bill began working as a carpet installer and did so until he moved to Baker City in 2001. Bill enjoyed fishing, camping and spending time on the computer. He enjoyed taking his bulldog, Sugar, for her daily walks around town. He was preceded in death by his father, David Bonner; brother, Ricky in 1983; brother, Troy Lee (who was 2 years old at time of death); and sister, Mancie Faye in 1956. Bill is survived by his wife, Maria; mother, Essie; son, William Jr.; three grandchildren; brothers, David and his wife, Dawn Kennedy, of Baker City, James Franklin Bonner of Jacksonville, Fla., and Kenneth Swint of Jacksonville, Fla.; sister, Regina Bonner of Kansas City, Mo.; and two nieces and several nephews. Memorial contributions may be made to help defray funeral services through Tami’s Pine Valley Funeral Home, P.O. Box 543 Halfway, OR 97834.
La Grande 1958-2011
Jeff was born April 19, 1958, in La Grande, to Richard Anthony Boothman and Jean McCrae Rau. He attended schools in La Grande, Union and Othello, Wash. He loved playing football in high school. Jeff lived in many places throughout his life, most recently in Milton-Freewater and La Grande. He was a logger by trade and he operated heavy equipment in the mines throughout Nevada. Jeff loved fishing, hunting and picking huckleberries with his dog, Ozzy. He spent every moment he could with his grandchildren. He was an avid NASCAR fan. Jeff is survived by his long-time companion, Sheila and her children; Jeff’s six children; his mother, Jean Rau of Monmouth; father and step-mother, Tant and Linda Boothman of Othello, Wash.; his siblings, Tant Boothman Jr. of Othello, Wash., Debra Crisp of Merlin, Ray Rau of Monmouth, Chuck Rau of Elgin, Johnna Sheedy of Milton-Freewater and David Boothman of Othello; and four grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his step-father, Goar Rau. At the request of the family, donations to help with expenses would be appreciated.
