Pansy L. Hartford, 83, of Kaiser, died April 13 at Grande Ronde Hospital. A full obituary will be published later. Loveland Funeral Chapel & Crematory is in charge of the arrangements.

Edith S. Atkins McConnell

Union

1919-2012

Edith Sarah Atkins McConnell, 93, died April 10 at her home in Union. A graveside service will begin at 10 a.m. April 16 in Goldendale, Wash. A remembrance will be held later in Union at her granddaughter’s home.

She was born Feb. 14, 1919, in Vale. She spent most of her life in Washington, returning to Oregon in June 2011 to be with her daughter’s family.

Her family says she taught by example how to be an honorable daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, aunt, cousin, homemaker and friend. She was a rancher, steamfitter and welder. She was a dedicated outdoorswoman and a nature and animal lover.

Survivors include her younger sister of Goldendale; her daughter, son-in-law and grandson; her granddaughter and husband in Union; as well as nieces, nephews and cousins.
