Donald L. Martin
Donald L. Martin, 75, of Enterprise, died Feb. 7. A service will begin at 11 a.m. Monday at Enterpise Elks. Bollman Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
Craig W. Yundt
Craig W. Yundt, 52, of La Grande and formerly of Ontario, died Feb. 7 in a Boise Hospital. Haren-Wood Funeral Chapel in Ontario is in charge of the arrangements.
Arla L. Bingaman
Grande Ronde Valley
Arla Larie Bingaman, 86, lifelong resident of the Grande Ronde Valley, died Feb. 8 at Grande Ronde Hospital.
A celebration of her life will begin at 10 a.m. Saturday at the Summerville Cemetery Chapel. Viewing hours will be from 4 until 6 p.m. today at Daniels-Knopp Funeral, Cremation & Life Celebration Center.
Arla was born on July 13, 1925, in the family home near Summerville. She was the daughter of Ira and Hazel (West) Lanman. She attended the Pleasant Grove School, the Pumpkin Ridge School and Imbler High School, where she graduated as valedictorian of the Class of 1943.
On Jan. 6, 1945, she married Howard Aaron Bingaman in La Grande. He preceded her in death on Oct. 23, 2007.
Howard and Arla farmed in the valley. When her children were young, she was active in the PTA and 4-H. Her family was the main focus of her life.
Survivors include her children and their spouses, Russell and Patty Bingaman of Imbler, Ross and Carrie Bingaman of Imbler and Janet and Ned Hurd of Boise; eight grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and other relatives. Besides her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her brother, Bill Lanman.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Imbler Education Foundation Building Fund or the Summerville Cemetery Chapel Fund in care of Daniels-Knopp, 1502 Seventh St., La Grande, OR 97850.
Laura Eleanor Davis Antles, 98, of La Grande, died Feb. 4. A celebration of Eleanor’s life will begin at 1 p.m. Sunday at La Grande United Methodist Church. Friends and community members are welcome to also attend an informal coffee and snack hour at noon before the service. Loveland Funeral Chapel is in charge of the arrangements.
Eleanor was born Nov. 24, 1913, in Northfield, Ohio, to Charles Millard and Bessie (Agnew) Davis. She was the middle child of three girls. Her father died in Ohio when she was a child.
The family moved to Cove when she was a teenager.
After high school, Eleanor married Archer Alva Antles and they moved to La Grande where she lived ever since. Eleanor and Archer had one son, Arden, and three
Both Archer and Arden preceded Eleanor in death. Eleanor was also preceded in death by her older sister Mary. Her sister Katherine Coad lives in Sacramento, Calif.
Her ashes will be cast partly near her husband’s grave at the cemetery in Cove and partly on some favored forest land.
Those who knew her say she was admired for her youthful spirit and her caring ways. She could always recall people’s names along with the names of their children and grandchildren, her family said. She was a life-long active member of the United Methodist church, serving on many committees and contributing her time and resources.
