Union County is currently accepting project applications for funding under Title III of PL 110-343 for fiscal year 2011-12 to begin July 1, 2011. Categories of funding include 1) Firewise Communities Program to assist homeowners in fire-sensitive ecosystems that can increase the protection of people and property from wildfires; 2) Search, Rescue and other Emergency Services performed on Federal lands; and 3) Community Wildfire Protection Plans. Applications are available from the Union County Commissioners Office, 1106 K Avenue, La Grande, OR 97850. Deadline for proposals is May 16, 2011 at 5:00 p.m.

A public meeting of the Budget Committee of the City of North Powder, Union County, State of Oregon to discuss the budget for the fiscal year July 1, 2011 to June 30, 2012 will be held at the Wolf Creek Grange, 215 E Street, North Powder, OR 97867. The meeting will take place on April 26, 2011 at 6:30PM. The purpose of the meeting is to receive the budget message and to receive comment from the public on the budget. A copy of the budget document may be inspected or obtained on or after April 26, 2011 at North Powder City Hall, 635 3rd Street, between the hours of 8:30AM and 12:30PM. This is a public meeting where deliberation of the Budget Committee will take place. Any person may appear at the meeting and discuss the proposed programs with the Budget Committee.

Public Hearing Notice
The City of North Powder is completing a water master plan project funded with Community Development Block Grant funds from the Oregon Business Development Department. The location of the project is North Powder City Hall, 635 Third Street, North Powder, OR 97867. It is estimated the project will benefit at least 489 persons of whom 64.2% are low or moderate income.
A public hearing will be held by the City Council at 7:15 p.m. on Monday, May 2, 2011 at the Wolf Creek Grange, 215 E Street, North Powder, OR 97867.
The purpose of the hearing is for the North Powder City Council to obtain citizens views about the project and to take comments about the local government’s performance. Written comments are also welcome and must be received by May 2, 2011 at City of North Powder, P.O. Box 309, North Powder, OR 97867. Both oral and written comments will be reviewed by the North Powder City Council.
The location of the hearing is accessible to the disabled. Please let Beth Wendt, City Recorder, 541-898-2185, know if you need any special accommodations to attend or participate in the hearing.
More information about the Oregon Community Development Block Grant program and the project is available for public review at the North Powder City Hall during regular office hours. Advance notice is requested.
