Union County, Oregon, invites bids for the construction of Pierce Road Improvements - 2011.  The work consists of reconstructing and overlaying approximately 5 miles of roadway.  The work will be constructed over a two-year period and has been divided into three segments and one Additive Alternative section of roadway.
Segment I is ±1.6 miles in length and consists primarily of shoulder widening and a 4-inch HMAC overlay.  All work in Segment I will be performed in 2011 by the successful Contractor.            
Segment II is ±2.8 miles in length and consists of complete roadway reconstruction.  The north ±1.4 miles will be constructed in 2011 and the south ±1.4 miles will be reconstructed in 2012.  Union County Public Works Department will perform pavement removal, roadway earthwork, aggregate base, and some base rock work for this segment.  Final base rock, final grading, and HMAC paving will be performed by the successful Contractor.
Segment III is ±0.75 miles in length and consists primarily of shoulder widening and a 6-inch HMAC overlay.  All work in Segment III will be performed in 2011 by the successful Contractor.
The Additive Alternative work (Airport Lane) will consist of a 3-inch HMAC overlay and will be performed in 2011 or 2012 (Owner's Option) if funds allow.  The successful Contractor will perform all Additive Alternative work if the work is awarded.
Sealed bids for the described project will be received by Shelley Burgess, or her authorized representative, of Union County, Oregon, at 1106 K Avenue, La Grande, Oregon, until 2:00 p.m., local time, March 31, 2011.  Bids will be publicly opened and read aloud at the same location, time, and date that bids are due.  The Contract Time for 2011 work will be one hundred twenty (120) calendar days and the Contract Time for 2012 work will be sixty (60) calendar days from the Notice to Proceed.
The Contract is subject to the applicable provisions of ORS 279C.800 through ORS 279C.870, the Oregon Prevailing Wage Law.
