Interested in a Landowner Preference bull elk tag? How about a three-night resort stay? Or something as simple and inexpensive as a gift certificate to a local business?
If so, be sure to tune in or go online to the Union County 4-H Radio Auction this weekend. The annual auction is one of the best deals around for getting great prizes and contributing to a worthy cause. All of the money raised from the hundreds of items donated for the auction goes to the Union County 4-H Leaders Association, which oversees the valuable 4-H program.
Businesses throughout the county contribute items or gift certificates that are then bid on by the public. Many of the items sell for less than their value. A few might go over. Whatever the bid ends up to be, the buyer gets a deal — and the knowledge they are helping a program that provides activities and education for our
Don’t be intimidated by the thought of participating in a radio and online auction. Bidding is easy. First, before placing a bid, call and request a bidder number. The numbers to call — and there are several available — are included in the 4-H Auction insert in today’s Observer. Once you have your number, you can start bidding.
Listen to KCMB-FM 104.7 for updates on the bids, or go online to http://4heoni.com or http:extension.oregonstate.edu/union/ to check the status of bids. Call one of the many numbers to place your bid. Remember to refresh your computer often so that prices are current. Your bid for a particular item might get beat, so be prepared to call again.
The auction has eight sessions — two Saturday morning and two Saturday afternoon, and another four sessions Sunday starting at noon. You can check online at the end of each session to see if your bid holds out. Plus, 4-H volunteers will call successful bidders at the end of each day to let them know what they won.
The insert in today’s paper lists all the prizes. Take a look through them and mark those items you might be interested in bidding on. Then go for it.
The auction is a lot of fun. It’s an event made even more exciting by the fact you know the money you spend on prizes is going to a great program for our youth.
Take some time and look through the insert. Find some things to bid on. Come Saturday, call and get your bidder number then have at it! Let’s all help make this year’s auction one of the best ever.
