Get those votes in for a ‘place that matters’
The OK Theatre is holding its own in the “This Place Matters’’ contest
sponsored by the National Trust for Historic Places. But it could use
As of Thursday, just past the halfway point in the voting, the OK had 2,124 votes — more than the population of Enterprise, said Bill Bush, owner of the OK.
The OK has surpassed a theater in Texas and is less than 75 votes out of first place, which is held by the Over the Rhine group of Cincinnati, Ohio.
The OK Theatre is competing with 99 other finalists for a grant of $25,000, which it would use for facade improvement. Second place will get $10,000 and third place will get $5,000.
Winners will be determined by which of the 100 places gets the most votes.
Only one vote per household or email address is allowed.
To vote, go to the OK Theatre website, www.theok.tk, and click on the link to vote. Each vote has to be registered with the National Trust for Historic Preservation, which will require you to sign up under your email address and will send a password to use to log your vote.
Voting continues through June 30.
