NIE is valuable program

To the Editor:

The Newspapers in Education program has been a wonderful resource for our school. It has continued to supply a link from the town to the classroom, in order for the students to feel more connected to their community. We use the NIE program in our journalism, writing and our social studies classes as a springboard for discussions and debates. Additionally, the local sports coverage is always a source of pride and interest.

With the initial budget concerns, it is a relief to know that NIE is available. LHS is indebted to the NIE program and The Observer.
