What’s basis for conclusion? To the Editor: I have observed major industries and governments making unusually rapid alterations to established methods of doing business under the guise of concern for climate change. These observations piqued my interest and raised my own level of concern. My response to this was to inquire to my U.S. senators as to the scientific basis being used for decisions on these matters; these inquiries were never acknowledged, not so much as the usual form letter thanking me for my input. I then sent a handwritten letter to President Obama and this inquiry generated the same response. I understand the reluctance of our national leadership to commit to a position, but until citizens are given the best available information it is going to be difficult to unite the nation toward corrective action, especially with all of the media buzz contrary to the direction our leadership promotes. I feel that if, in fact, we are dealing with the very health of our life support systems, we all have an obligation to be aware of the relevant science. This is far too important to leave to the normal decision process utilized by our politicians. I urge everyone to demand from your representatives exact reference to the science they are basing decisions regarding climate change. Please let others know about any responses that you may receive.
