Letters and Comments for July 2, 2009 Sale to benefit local youth To the Editor: My name is Jordan Meyer and I am a 15-year-old student at La Grande High School. I am looking for items to be donated for a yard sale to help my friend Sam Werner. You see, Sam has recently been diagnosed with leukemia. The family has no health coverage for this type of thing. All the money raised from this will go directly to the Werner family to help offset the costs of Sam’s treatment. The sale will be at the end of July and will be located at Pacific Empire Radio Station in the parking lot on Cove Avenue. Please drop off your donations by July 27. Please, if you have anything to donate large or small, it would be very much appreciated. Please call Liz Meyer at 786-3868 or J.T. at 910-4918. You can also drop off your items at Weight, Mind and Body Management at 1008 Adams Ave. or the Pacific Empire Radio Station at 2510 Cove Ave. If need be, we can also pick up your items. Thank you so much for helping a local family in their time of need.
La Grande Administration creates crises To the Editor: As a national political observer, my 82 years have seen almost everything, but this administration presents something new. If there is no crisis, create one and blame it on Bush. Then turn the solution to the problem over to Congress. When Pelosi finds the polls present a question or a doubt, they run in circles — scream and shout. I would laugh if only the new taxes didn’t hurt so much. Franklyn Babb La Grande |
