Bring water for dogs

To the Editor:

My letter is in regard to our animal pets and Chief Joseph Days.

I enjoy the parades, and I see people who bring their dogs with them. No problem. However, it is hot weather and the parade lasts a couple of hours or so. I watch as dog owners wander around sipping a drink and staying comfortable, while their dogs are over-heated and close to the hot pavement, panting and running out of energy because they, too, need a drink. The road is quite close to some of the smaller dogs and very hot to all dogs.

Therefore, I want to share with you a thought and hope these good folks that enjoy taking their pets along will take it to heart.

Take a small Cool Whip tub and a jar of water with you for your pet. It only takes moments to stop and offer a drink to the dog.

We have a small dog and I always carry something for him to drink out of and have water with me. It makes his day much more pleasant. Think about it, folks, and have a happy CJD.

Left targets Sarah Palin

To the Editor:

Sarah Palin is being blasted in the major media, unmercifully, since resigning as governor of Alaska. She is being accused of deserting her post, for being rambling in her resignation speech and, in general, not being presidential.

Actually she was very clear in stating her intentions and as far as “rambling” only depends on whether you are for or against her. Rambling is a term often used by the left against those they do not approve of. She is not leaving the state of Alaska without leadership as she is passing the gavel to her very able lt. governor.

Not only is she being attacked by the left, she is also not being very strongly supported by many so-called Republicans and some weak-kneed conservatives. It does not really matter if so many of those on the right are failing to speak up for her. I think she is going to run for president in 2012 and, unless the left is able to totally discredit her, stands a good chance of winning.

There is a group in America that fervently believes she is presidential, and they are the radical left. They are in a state of spasmodic turmoil as to how to destroy her credibility. They won’t let up!
