Letters and Comments for June 24, 2009
Decision was made To the Editor: I was hoping by now letters regarding the recent LHS play would have stopped, but yet another on June 6 shows the community still concerned with this issue. My take on this matter is, regardless of play content, a decision was rendered in a prescribed manner after community arguments were presented. The director of the play, having influence provided only by his access to high school students, decided to ignore the values of the community and continue with the production. I see the director’s action as a major breach of ethical conduct and only serves as a bad example to students of high school age of how to function as a member of our society. The community has an obligation to pronounce values and provide boundaries for young adults of high school age and that should lead to special attention in the selection of people we hire to be put in front of these students as educators and role models.
