Possesses right skill set

To the Editor:

I would like to add to the growing support for Mike Berglund, La Grande School District Board of Directors Position 5 Zone 3. As a former board member, I quickly learned the importance of developing a role and style for the board to assure appropriate governance.

Mike Berglund possesses such a personal skill set. Mike’s combined public and private sector experience and his rich history of community involvement makes him a natural fit for becoming an effective school board member.

Mike’s easy listening style, combined with his ability to analyze all sides of an issue and his personal commitment for doing groundwork, will be a valuable asset as our district continues to reorganize around unprecedented revenue reductions.

I would also like to acknowledge the out-going board members, Glen Herman, John McKinnon and Keith Walker, for their commitments to public service. I thank them for their efforts to balance all the issues while keeping their eye on the prize, which is recognizing the excellence in all the district staff who serve, each and every day, for the betterment of the children and families in our community.
