No equality in plans

To the Editor:

Well, the president’s plan, whatever his plan may be, is working. We have been warned that the way the president is piling up indebtedness, the dollar value is sinking and inflation is moving in.

Recently, I saw an ad in one of the local grocers’ sales ad. Coffee (never mind the brand) was $8 for a 32-ounce can. I quit buying coffee when it hit $5 a can.

Also there was talk among the news men that the president is strongly considering using a quite large portion of Social Security plus eliminating COLA. It’s going to be tough on old folks.

People with moderate incomes, $500,000 to $1 million a year will have a heavier tax on their income.

Any thought of equality is void in the president’s thinking and

planning.

Aren’t you glad you voted for Mr. Obama?

Currents wreak havoc

To the Editor:

Maybe the “threat” and “crisis” of Wallowa County losing cable TV service isn’t so bad. The Oct. 26 front page article pointed out the loss to hospitals and nursing facilities and hotels. As for the first two, a former hospital administrator told me recently that yes, indeed, electrical fields affect heart and brain and all manner of their crucial functions.

A sick person shouldn’t be surrounded by TVs right under the floor, across the wall, above the bed. A TV fast may be good in more ways than one. As for hotels, maybe 10 years ago, Holiday Inns asked for help with the burgeoning insomnia among their clientele. Not so long after, a hotel trade magazine advertised a television-free hotel. No telling if that was related, but it should have been. Wired and wireless electrical currents can wreak havoc with sleep. Count your blessings, folks.

And see if you can’t get those wireless telecommunications antenna or whatever they are moved away from the Lostine mental health building.

Talk about a nightmare.
