The festival beckons

To the Editor:

It’s that time of year again — the excitement of the holidays fills the air. One holiday event that shouldn’t be missed is the Soroptimist’s Festival of Trees. You can show your support for the many local programs that are supported by the efforts of our local Soroptimists by attending the gala and auction the Friday evening following Thanksgiving. On Saturday, treat the kids to the spectacular showing of the decorated trees and activities just for them, including a visit with Santa — all for a donation of canned food to benefit our local food banks.

Shelter From the Storm is a grateful recipient of grant funds generated by the Soroptimists at this event. These funds provide for counseling for victims of domestic violence and sexual assault, a service that would not exist except for the support of local grant dollars. You can help us, to assist the victims in our community by attending this wonderful event.
