Slow down, please
I live on South 12th Street, halfway between Gekeler and Bushnell. My neighbor from up above called me and said around 4 or 5 Thursday afternoon a buck had been hit by a red and white truck coming down South 12th right in front of my driveway and had a broken leg. My neighbor said the truck was traveling very fast coming down. Two years ago a 5-month-old fawn was also hit by a truck on our road. It broke one of its back legs, and now he is 2 years old and is living his life with three legs. Even before the road improvements last year, I would sit and watch the cars come flying down from the top of Bushnell. There is a speed limit sign posted on South 12th. It is 25 mph. It is summer and the kids are out playing, riding their bikes and scooters. The does have their fawns, people are out for their daily walks at all times of the day. People, slow down. We live in La Grande where it takes just minutes to get anywhere. Jamie Thiesfeld La Grande
