First-class tournament
On Aug. 27-28, the 17th Annual Grande Ronde Amateur Golf Tournament presented by title sponsors Legacy Ford/Pepsi Cola Bottling of Eastern Oregon will be played at Buffalo Peak golf course in historic Union. This event open to both men and women is a 36-hole stroke-play event and is the longest running event of this type in Union County. The event’s mission is two-fold in that it provides a first-class golf tourney for regional golfers and monies generated benefit the Grande Ronde Hospital Foundation and the many great things it does for the health care of our community. With a field of 90 players, the prize purse is $5,000 and with the addition this year of Stacey J. Clark, DPM, sponsoring the women’s event, 2011 will prove to be one of the best years on record. And don’t forget the ever popular 20-player sole survivor on Sunday afternoon, which includes the skins game sponsored by Les Schwab Tire Center. Entries are still open and golfers are encouraged to go to Buffalo Peak golf course for entry forms or visit www.buffalopeakgolf.com or www.grh.org to register online. Questions can be directed to the Grande Ronde Hospital Foundation at 541-963-1431.
