A special gem
This summer, I had the opportunity to attend Discovery Camp at the Cove Ascension School Camp. Discovery Camp is open to small children, ages preschool to second grade, who attend with an adult (parents, grandparents, aunts, uncles, etc.). It is a time for young children to experience an overnight camp with an adult by their side, which makes it less scary and more enjoyable. My 5-year-old son and I signed up to attend camp and as an adult, I really wasn’t sure what to expect. What I found was an amazing opportunity for both of us. We slept in a cabin, made friends, swam, sang songs, explored, did crafts and tried lots of new things! Not to mention the food was excellent, the counselors were friendly and the camp was excellently managed and organized. My seventh-grade son and fifth-grade daughter also attended camps at Cove Ascension School Camp this summer. Previously we had not realized that the camp is open to everyone. You do not have to go to church or be of a certain denomination to attend camp. They both had a great time as well. Cove Ascension Camp is a wonderful opportunity, and yet it seemed like most of the people at the camps were from far away. I am writing this letter to hopefully make others aware that we have a special gem in our own backyards! We are all excited to attend again next year. Angela Gorham Cove |
