On July 16, a former Observer carrier passed away. His name was Bob Robertson and for many years he delivered The Observer to customers lucky enough to be on his route. Bob loved his job and his customers loved having him as their paper boy. We lived near Bob’s route but we were not on his route. However, we watched Bob as he progressed through his route and brought the news to his customers hours before our paper arrived. Always we would say, “Wish Bob delivered our paper.” Bob Robertson exemplified the ultimate in work ethic and dedication. He made delivering the paper seem like the most important job in town. We could all learn a lesson from Bob. I’ve sent a small check, a donation in his memory, to be used for your Newspapers in Education program. He would have liked that. Karen Hunt Elgin |
