Richmond-Harris, Thrower
The Great American Harvest was started with the vision of making Union County a happier, healthier community in which to live and raise our children. I believe that we have helped. However, after five years and almost 1,000,000 pounds of food donated to everyone, we find that with our personal, financial and health restraints, GAH will close at the end of 2008. We will continue to operate as we have in the past, including the holiday food boxes, but come Dec. 31, GAH will no longer be in operation. The concept of the Golden Rule and basic kindness is not new to any of us. However, sometimes the practice of this is not present. I encourage everyone to continue to come out to the harvest, pick free produce and help as long as we can. I have great hopes that someone will pick up where we have left off, continue this idea and grow with it. I am so very, very grateful for everyone who has continued to support GAH and I am confident should someone continue this concept, you will do the same for them. Thank you all for allowing me to be part of your life and the lives of others. The past five years will always be with me.
Please remember, GAH believes, “We create the world we live in.” With that in mind, as you go through your day, think of how you can create a better Union County. founder, Great American Harvest Half of our elected officials are greedy and corrupt, the other half are scared and stupid. And the American people? You be the judge.
My name is Rebecca Thrower and I support Congressman Dennis Kucinich’s articles of impeachment against President George W. Bush and Vice President Richard C. Cheney. La Grande |
