Helpful folks
All too often those who work in the public sector, or those who serve the public, perform their jobs without any recognition. Several individuals helped us resolve issues with our driveway as part of the South 12th Street reconstruction. City of La Grande Public Works Director Norm Paullus, as well as Howard Perry and Bob Hewitt at Anderson Perry, worked hard to get some design changes to our driveway entrance/sidewalk to address our concerns. At La Grande City Hall, Mike Boquist, Barbara Trick and Robert Strope spent a considerable amount of time digging up documents and records we needed. They always did it with a smile. Last but not least, Union County Commissioner Steve McClure, Union County Public Works Director Richard Comstock, Las Lequerica at Mike Becker Construction and again Howard Perry also have provided considerable help. I spoke with Steve McClure last November and asked if he was able to do anything to help us get some issues resolved. He asked me if we could wait until the contractor came back in the spring, because winter had set in and road work was no longer conducive. True to his word, he came to our house with Perry and Rich Comstock and met with us a couple of weeks ago. They came up with a plan for Mike Becker Construction to harden our driveway surface. Las Lequerica from Mike Becker construction came out last week, and even though he ran into difficulties with the water table, he made sure it was done right. At one point he removed the previous day’s work, and started all over with a different material. As a result of his hard work, we are now able to get in and out of our driveway without any problem.
