Wonderful show
My family and I are new to Eastern Oregon. We are native Oregonians and moved to La Grande in November 2010. We love living here and appreciate the warmth and friendliness of the residents, business and health community. Our family saw “Nunsense” at the Elgin Opera House and had a great time! The ladies of “Nunsense” are wonderful actors. Can’t wait to see another production! We will be regulars. Carole Graybeal La Grande
Why pay for lunch?
I recently reviewed the travel reimbursements to County Commissioner Mark Davidson. I am concerned that the taxpayers of Union County reimbursed $31.35 (including a $5 tip) to Mr. Davidson for a lunch meeting on Oct. 13, 2010. This meeting was listed as “SIP negotiations” and included Mark Davidson, Shelley Burgess and Bill Rosholt. It was held at Benchwarmers Pub & Grill. This location hardly seems appropriate for serious county business to be performed. Is there a reason why this meeting was not held in a county building? Is there a reason why taxpayers are paying for lunch in La Grande for county employees? What topics related to the SIP required an off-site meeting in La Grande including a paid lunch? Is there a reason why taxpayers are paying for a tip? I know the state of Oregon will not reimburse tips. As I reviewed the rules regarding county-paid reimbursements for meals, I can find no reference that appears to justify the county paying for this bill. Please provide justification for why taxpayers paid for this lunch for three county employees. Irene Gilbert La Grande |
