Successful show
On March 16, the 11th Annual Imbler Talent Show was held by the Imbler FBLA Chapter. The Imbler and Summerville communities, including our volunteers and sponsors, made it a success. As we all know, these aren’t the best of economic times, yet the Imbler FBLA Talent Show of 2011 was one of the most successful in the last 11 years. Without the support of the community, the Imbler FBLA program wouldn’t be as prosperous as it is, and for that, we greatly appreciate the community’s involvement. We hope to continue holding the Imbler Talent Show, and would like everyone to know that without the community’s involvement, the Imbler Talent Show wouldn’t be as successful as it is. Jaden Bales Imbler FBLA president
Wind power is not environmentally or economically responsible. Instead of spending billions of dollars on wind energy, which is only capable of producing 3 percent of our nation’s electrical energy, I invite you to accept the Friends of the Grande Ronde Valley Challenge: Cut back energy consumption by 3 percent. Now that is an environmentally and economically responsible decision! Linda Bond Union
I would like to add to the Community Comment that Dennis Wilkinson of Cove wrote in the paper March 18. Whatever you believe about the Antelope Ridge wind project or wind energy in general, because of our need to get away from fossil fuel consumption, the points he expresses concerning conserving energy are something we should all adopt. And whatever you believe in the global climate change debate, I believe that we all should be better stewards of our planet, if for nothing else to treat our planet earth as though it is our home. And guess what ... it is! Thank you Dennis for reminding us all what we can do, to do our part! Mary Helen Garoutte La Grande
