Difficult decision

To the Editor:

We want to express our appreciation to all who have helped us by volunteering, by donations and by prayer. But sadly, our efforts to maintain the shelter and Higher Grounds coffee bar in La Grande have come to a close.

We can no longer operate under the strain of financial conditions and stress, both physical and mental, that we have endured over the last year.

This has been a very difficult decision for us as we care very deeply for all who have come through these doors.

We intend to try again to provide a safe place for people and kids in need when we are better prepared and organized to do them justice. God bless you all.
