Vote for Davidson

To the Editor:

Mark Davidson is a strong voice and leader for Union County. I have been very impressed with the job he has done in his first term as a Union County commissioner and believe he can and will do more in a second term.

Mark’s experience in both the private and public sectors gives him the kind of background a county commissioner needs.

He has spent most of his life as a self-employed small businessman and became involved in voluntary service to his community with stints on both the planning commission and city council, not to mention numerous community development organizations.

His desire to serve the community as a full-time elected public servant made sense when he ran four years ago. He did not let us down.

His management of the Wallowa-Union Railroad was an excellent example of the kind of leader he is.

The railroad was able to retire its $2.1 million debt because of the revenue earned after Mark arranged for WURA to store rail cars. He also helped arrange a $1.25 million grant for an Elgin railroad depot. This is the kind of leadership Union County needs.

Mark knows Union County.

He knows what is needed to grow our economy, whether it is speaking out against the Wallowa-Whitman forest travel plan, speaking up for increased commercial harvests or making sure Union County would benefit economically if the wind turbine project should be approved by the state.

He has county citizens’ best interests at heart.

I strongly endorse Mark Davidson for a second term on the Union County board of commissioners.
