Bookstore is open

To the Editor:

It was brought to my attention this past weekend that a rumor has surfaced that Sunflower Books is closed. I would like to dispel this rumor. Sunflower Books is absolutely open and in full operation — full inventory of new books, full very committed staff, full business hours. We, the staff, want to let our loyal customers, supporters and patrons from La Grande and all the outlying communities in Northeastern Oregon know that we are still very much in business.

We are still carrying out our mission (fast, friendly service and commitment to customers and community) that has been our trademark for the past 32 years. It is true that the business is for sale, so that I may enter into a complete retirement. It is my desire and I am hopeful that I may sell to a person/persons who know and understand Sunflower Books’ role in the community and who will strive to carry on these traditions. During the process of selling, we are committed to continuing with business as usual.

We are very definitely open and eager to have you stop for a visit, to check out our many titles of new books, use our Wi-Fi connection, sit and enjoy the relaxation of the coffeehouse area, order a book or buy tickets to one of the many community events.

You have given us tremendous support these past many years. We are still dedicated to serving you and are proud and honored to be a part of the La Grande business community.
