Eastern Oregonís first signees are wrestling trailblazers for the schoolís newest program

A trio of high school seniors made history Thursday.

Makayla Grimm, Amber Pair and Viannei Perez each signed letters of intent to compete for the Eastern Oregon University women’s wrestling program, making the three athletes the school’s first-ever female wrestlers.

Andi Walsh of Haines was flat on her back in a gravel lot late Thursday morning but appeared to be pain free.

Walsh’s medical chart suggested otherwise.

When Eastern Oregon University’s Rachel Roelle clinched her first national   invite for the women’s 1,000-meter run this past winter, she knew it wouldn’t be her last. With the indoor season in the past and outdoor season starting up, she is more than focused on the ultimate goal — earning a second national invite.



A positive start to EOU women's wrestling

Eastern Oregon University men’s and women’s head wrestling coach Dustyn Azure said the events that took place at Quinn Coliseum Thursday made it a good day.
