Ore. governor: Drought emergencies in 2 more counties


SALEM — Oregon Gov. Kate Brown has declared drought emergencies in two more counties — Baker and Wheeler — due to drought, low snowpack levels and low water conditions.

Forty-six students from Oregon State traveled to Union over the weekend to help landowners figure out how to prevent the erosion of Medical Springs Highway. More than 40 beavers were spotted along Catherine Creek outside of Union over the weekend.


One killed, 2 injured in Saturday car crash

Rescue workers respond to a one-vehicle cash Saturday about eight miles northeast of La Grande. One person was killed in the accident and two others seriously injured. One person was arrested on charges of first-degree manslaughter, first-degree assault, driving under the influence of intoxicants-felony, reckless driving and three counts of recklessly endangering. One man died and two children were seriously injured late Saturday afternoon in a one-vehicle cash about eight miles northeast of La Grande.
