Recent Eastern Oregon signee looks to collegiate career after high school senior season derailed by illness

After a tumultuous senior year as part of the La Grande High School track and field team, Kayla Rasmussen relishes her shot at redemption after committing to run for Eastern Oregon University.

“I’m excited to see what I can do, because I never got to finish how I wanted to,” she said. 


Eastern looks to reignite rivalry

A rivalry decades in the making is set to resume this fall.

After the program was disbanded in 1977, the College of Idaho will kick off its first year of college football after the program was reinstated in 2012. With its location in Caldwell, Idaho, just over a two-hour drive away from La Grande, the proximity between the schools instantly makes it Eastern’s closest opponent in the Frontier Conference.


EOU outperforms expectations at national meet


The Eastern Oregon men’s and women’s outdoor track and field teams both enjoyed what head coach Ben Welch called a very successful collective showing at the NAIA national championships in Gulf Shores, Ala., Thursda through Saturday.

The men’s team resoundingly exceeded expectations, finishing eighth overall after entering the meet 26th, while the women finished 26th as a team. 



COLLEGE TRACK: Roelle wins national championship in 800

Eastern Oregon University middle distance runner Hans Roelle capped off his impressive season with a NAIA national championship in the men’s 800 meters in Gulf Shores, Ala., Saturday.


Tinkle hired as Oregon State basketball coach

CORVALLIS — Wayne Tinkle, who coached the past eight seasons at Montana, was hired as Oregon State's new head coach Monday night.
