Imbler girls basketball head coach Barry Bowers talks to his team during a timeout this past season. Bowers was one of three head coaches for the Panthers who recently resigned.
There will be a changing of the guard at Imbler High School next year.

Heartbreak. A missed opportunity. One that got away.
Any one of those phrases could describe La Grande’s tough-to-swallow 61-56 home loss to Cascade in the 4A state tournament playoffs Friday.

Banks grounds La Grande

After Friday’s disappointment, it wasn’t the game Union had hoped to be playing in. But the Bobcats treated its third/fifth-place game with Kennedy like a title contest and it showed.

‘Cats claw way to semis

Union’s Carsyn Roberts splits the defense of Monroe Thursday during a quarterfinal game at the 2A state tournament in Pendleton. The Bobcats won, 44-33, to advance to the semifinals today against Western Mennonite.

Cats head back to state

Union’s Delanie Kohr (20) battles with Bonanza’s Sage Woodworth for a rebound during a 2A playoff game Saturday in Union.

Excellent Ebel

La Grande junior Bryce Ebel won a pair of individual state titles at the 4A/3A/2A/1A state meet last weekend in the 50-yard freestyle race and the 100 butterfly.
